This may sound like a really dumb question but do you feed less horseage than you do hay??

My horse is really fussy and up until now we have coped but this year she is worse than ever and is just refusing to eat any type of hay. My suppliers have had to exchange it for me every month for the past 4 months and this month they have exchanged it twice and she still wont eat it.

Just trying to work out how much i would go through (she has about 6 wedges a day split between lunch and dinner)?

Any advise would be welcomed as i have never needed to feed it before.

By volume you would need to feed the same amount.

As a minimum I would be expecting to feed at least half a bale of horsehage per day but in reality if they are in for most of the day it could be 3/4 bale

You need to feed more haylage than hay as its wetter. About half as much again. If you feed less, you can end up with a horse that's standing eating nothing.

It may be worth offering her hay in a seperate net to the Horsehage - one of mine was refusing hay until I got him Horsehage, now he'll move between nets happily picking a bit from each (but isn't amused if I mix them in one net).

Don't forget to cut her hard feed, she should need less because the Horsehage has a higher feed value.
