Anyone else looking forward to the blackberrys arriving :-) I am, especially as with a shire x I can reach all the really good ones xx

My Shire X is faster at picking them than I am and can reach further so there's little benefit to me of trying to pick them from horseback. I have to leave her at home to get any decent ones:D

There's a new angle to horse riding I hadn't considered. :)

Mind you I'm trying very hard to not let Bree get it into her little hairy head that it's ok to eat when hacking.

Generally I find a gullible small child with long sleeves helps get the best ones from the back of the bush - especially one that has been told under pain of death not to eat ANY of those nasty berries... :D My grandad used that with me once upon a time :o Worked a treat!

One of the joys of living in rural France is the abundance of fruit during the summer. Whilst riding yesterday I picked plums apples & a peach :)
Never tried blackberries but may give that a go today.

I hope any gullible small children aren't too small.... I was always told never to pick wild fruit under a reasonable-sized dog's leg cocking height, to avoid any which have been shall we say "fertilised" in an unusual way ha ha!!!!😉

We used to do this, riding in France! We spent many happy hours picking all sorts (I suppose it was unofficially 'scrumping', but no one seemed to mind!)
