I've been riding on weekends since March this year as a replacement for not having the time to commit to another season of football/rugby. I found it difficult to fight the urge to play some team sport until I recently discovered horseball; possibly the best kept secret in equestrian sport.

The problem I have is that my school doesn't partake in horseball. Does anyone know anywhere in London or west Essex where you can give it a go? I know there's a place in St. Albans but that's a bit far out for me. Being a typical Londoner I've no car so I'm hoping there's a yard I can reach on public transport.

I know I've got a lot more learning to do before I'll be a good enough rider to play in a game but I'd love to try it out or go and watch it!

Lee Valley riding centre does horse ball. I used to get there by bus - only about 20 minutes from the city. I did end up buying a scooter to get there when I moved to Brixton, which was a brilliant investment! Though I did get a few funny looks as the only way to carry my schooling whip was to sit on it ;-)

Lee Valley will definitely be your nearest place. Technically there's an Essex and Suffolk club too who sometimes hold sessions at Essex RSs but it's been inactive all year due to lack of interest
