I’m looking into buying a ford iveco daily horse box but heard they’re really really awful for having issue and corrosion? Had anyone had any experience with these lorries? Would I be better off with a show trekka ??

Ah, now I had a D series Ford in the early 80s, it was a very good workhorse and travelled miles round the country week in and week out, none of the rotting that went on with the Cargo's or mech issues of the later Iveco's. It got killed by an old lady in her 80s driving home from church, she flew out of a side road in her mini and straight into the front passenger side, writing the old girl off sadly.

blimey that was no contest a lorry and a mini!

its just that most ,blokes tell me the oldies are the goodies, and that the newer ones are more problematic and complicated, electrics etc

Depends on the age and how it's been maintained but they do have a notorious reputation for corrosion.

If you are still considering it make sure you get a lorry mechanic to thoroughly check the underside. I can't remember the proper name but you can get the underneath steam cleaned and/or blasted and then coated with "something" (again can't remember the name).

It's all cost driven. Is it structurally safe and sound right now and can you afford to maintain it at least annually?

ETA make sure you check the MOT history. When I got my box I didnt know this was something that you could do. A "friend" said she could look it up because she worked in the industry and assured me that it was fine and nothing of concern. Totally BS, so yeah, make sure you check the history yourself, learn from my mistake!
