My lorry has stood for 5 weeks outside with the batteries on the lorry but not connected. I put one on charge last night and it still says 10% this morning. Do they freeze? is it knackered? or do i just need to charge it longer????? they are about 18 months old and were fine before snow.

The cold 'drains' the batteries, makes them lethargic. Sorry, not at all technical, but it's definitely not good for them.

I asked D and he says the batteries have probably had it (but disclaimer: he's not a mechanic!). He did ask if the battery charger is working okay.

Know absolutley nothing about the working of horseboxes but cant you just charge the battery up? Thats what we did a few weeks ago, and then put an isolator in. Starts first time now.

our lorry is only 2 yr old and done less than 4000 mile and we've had to have 2 new batteries cos it had stood for weeks. It had an isolator on it but they still went flat. The mechanid said to start it up for half an hour every 2=3 days

batteries now charging happily and were still at 75% anyway. turns out it was the extension cable i was runnning from the mains to the lorry!!!!!! only found out after i had lugged one battery inside off the lorry and put it on charge inside. thanks folks
