So yesterday we picked up my Christmas present a 7.5 horsebox my old one was a project we never had time for :( so we sold it and found this one just been giving it a spring clean lots of straw in the back needed moving and wondered what I should put on the floor my welsh is know to have a wee when loading him to go home he also tends to get excited and his poo is abit sloppy ( sorry to anyone eating) while in a trailer he actually slipped and fell as there was no bedding down. However I like to keep the horsebox as clean as possible so is there any bedding you would recommend?

I put a trug of shavings down, and muck out through the day, then top up with fresh shavings before setting off for home. Once home I muck out again, and any spare shavings go back in the trug for next time, with the trug in the middle of the partition on solid rubber mat so the edges can be dry.

This is what I do too :-)

I always put shavings down, mine does sloppy poo's too and the shavings do a good job of drying up the wet. They seem to give good grip and although mine doesn't wee in the lorry (ever!) they would be way better than straw at absorbing any wee (which would also give your lorry floor a little protection).

I have found the best thing on the floor of my lorry is the cheapest 'no frills' woodchip bedding from countrywide, it's 'heavier' than shaving so I find it doesn't blow around the back of the lorry or follow the horse down the ramp! It's absorbant too. Have almost trained my horses to wee on command.... off the lorry!
