Posted in CR as folks probably use the living in their lorry more.

Our basic lorry has an unfitted living and looking at clever ideas/options to make the most of the space. Not bothered by sink/fridge/hob etc... as don't often stay away overnight but would want some storage

However OH would like built in bench seating in a c-shape with the table that converts to a bed in case we do stay overnight at shows. The table can come out and drops into a ledge round the edge of the bench to make a bed then the back cushions fill in the space to make a full mattress.

Where do we site the access to under bench storage from within or better externally?

All ideas welcome and if you have any photos -all the better! :)

Thanks

Have seen that arrangement in a caravan re making up the bed. Re the storage access would say depends what the storage is for. If tack rugs horse food etc then access outside if people stuff access inside. Not sure how you are for weight but we fitted our living out with aluminium frames and then caravan materials.

The only time ive seen seating with access from the outside is in the low outside tack lockers in the living. Not sure howelse you would do it. If you want a the seating in to bed with storage under then i would simply have the tops lift off as thats what i did when doing mine.
This is mine but i dont have seating/bed as have a big luton. My tack locker also goes into the living so it pretty unuseable space but the sink and hob go there nicely.

Sorry, just saw that auto correct on my kindle meant that didn't make sense. it should have read we fitted hinged lids on the top of the bench.

LOL autocorrect is wonderful at times ;)

Thanks all the the comments. Think need to sit down and figure out what we want and what works of graph paper. Not bothered by cookers/fridges etc... as won't be staying over night that often just would be nice to have comfy day living.

Sorry no photos but I did exactly this with mine. We just built a very simple bench in a c shape with lids that just pull off the top so that you can access the inside of the bench for storage. On the opposing edges I put a block of wood that had slots cut out of it that wooden bars are then slotted into to make the frame for a bed. I made the cushions for on top of the bench and the back rests were sized to fit into the gap left to make the bed mattress. It came out at roughly a small double sized bed.

I put in a combined sink and hob connected to a leisure battery and a gas canister. Then in the corner I had a little area for two saddles and bridles and show jackets.

It all came out really well and didn't cost too much or add much weight. I think all in it probably cost less than £1000 including the sink/hob, foam, material, tiles, paint, wood, varnish etc.
