Horsebox essentials

First aid stuff, Spare bits like a headcollar and leadrope as we have had breakages and had to buy new which is fine if your at a show but not so great otherwise! Likewise gloves, hairnet medical armband etc. The little things that get forgotten.
Coffee- Always have a tin of coffee in the glove box! ;)
I dont keep much in mine tbh as i try very consciously to keep the weight down as much as possible.

I take far too much stuff and most of it doesn't get used, but I have spares just in case. I've got a box filled with bits n bobs - First aid stuff, spare halter and lead rope, tie ups, stable bandages, cooling gel, medical arm band. Treats, carrots and dually with long rope in case of loading issues. As well as the usual gear and tack!

I always keep loads of stuff in the lorry. I have a vast bit collection in there, various nosebands, spare reins, spare breastplates, spare halter, lead ropes, spare boots for the horses, a huge first aid kit, loads of buckets, spare rugs ranging from fleeces to waterproof turnouts. Spare saddlepads, gloves, grooming kit, spare clothes/shoes for me including waterproofs, food & water for horses and me.
The list goes on and on!

Mostly as above, but essentials are
a spare crash hat under the passenger seat with gloves, in case of emergency or loading etc...
Hi Viz padded jacket (you never know when!) which has been used on a cold day when standing around.
Spare headcollar & 2 lead ropes.
1st aid kit for equine & human
Grooming kit
Water bucket, water container, wash off bucket with scraper & sponge
Spare rug
Spare ciggys, drink cartons.
Boot jack
Yard gate key
Dog bowl & water bottle
Old towels.

Phone number crib sheet, in case phone goes down & I need to borrow someone elses phone.
Emergency number sheet to go in cab window when parked up, as i travel on my own.
Complete set of old clothes, inc undies & socks in sealed bag.

I also pop the spares bag in each time along with my tack, this has a pair of leathers, 2 sets reins, martingale, girth and a couple of bits too.
Obviously tidy riding gear goes in with tack and bp, if competing.

Edited to add: Emergency £20 note in cab, for fuel, food, additional entry etc :)

I have a bag of differently sized bungees -- it's astounding how often I (or others!) need them for something or other ...

I always have spare clothes inc bra, knickers, socks ... for the unexpected torrential downpours.

"emergency £20", spare reins and spare headcollar

+ most of the stuff already mentioned by other posters ...

Emergency list needs to include the number of your vet (if local) and who to call if you get into trouble on the journey. It's always useful to remember that the Fire and Rescue Service Animal Rescue Team need to be contacted via 999 if your horse has an accident in the transport vehicle - and if on a road, the police.

These are fab ideas! Thank you, I've just sold my trailer and bought a box so am enjoying the novelty of being able to keep things stored in it rather than carrying to the car and back all the time....

My advice would be don't leave home unless you have a rescue policy, especially if you motorway travel.

I keep spares on board, leathers, reins, ropes etc. A spare hat with harness on as some shows now don't allow Patey's and bowlers. A decent first aid kit which includes sedalin. Fresh water and a small unopened bale of haylage. Bale string, knife and torch.

Included are most of the above posters items.
I also have a hammer as you would not believe the times that "something" gets stuck and you can't undo it without a stronger nudge than a hand can do.

All the above plus zip ties, gaffer tape, wd40, screwdriver (eg to access where the living battery lives), sharp knife, hiviz, deicer, scraper, towel to wipe inside of windscreen clear, pad and pen, sweeties, wet wipes, antihistamines and pain relief for horse and human, baby wipes, kitchen towel, scissors, couple of big bottles of cheapest supermarket still water in case horses or humans run out, dustpan, brush and floor wipes for living floor, spare batteries, gas bottle spanner, spare leather packed in airtight box wrapped in kitchen roll with silica gel sachets to avoid mildew, a couple of those treat mini bales incase I've undestimated how much hay he'll eat, spare old pair of johd boots, several girths (always lending these out!) and a folding trolley barrow thingy for carting everything to the temp stables!

Just remembered, I've just added an ice scraped and deicer. I wouldn’t head out if it was frosty but its possible it could change while out at an evening lesson.

One other thing I didn't put in - a ruddy sharp knife.
This is gaffa taped in the grooms part to wall, so it can easily be grabbed to cut a horse out of any potential situation, or cut rug straps etc. Never had to use it on mine, but had twice to grab it to help others in the last yr or 2.
Also minor tool box, with hammer, gaffa tape etc in
