Going to look at a Bedford 3.5t (cf I think? The little 2 horse one)
Anyway it needs an mot, it says 3000kg on the log book but has twin axle on the back (from looking at photos)
Will it go through a car mot or will it need a class 7?
I want to book it in before I go to look at it as will have to drive it without an mot to the mot station.
It's giving me a headache and nobody seems to know, spoke to the blokes wife who also didn't know lol

Thanks in advance :)

From what I've read anything over 3tons is a class 7 but anything under 3000kg is a class 4 (car) so it's right in the middle! Some people have said it'll be ok and some people have said it won't!
I'm not sure until I go and look at it, it's only for 1 15hh tbx anyway and it has no living etc, so hopefully I should be ok!

Mines a 3.5 ton with a twin axel I only need a car type mot. Going to look at newer one tomorrow, mines has been great for the last 3 years but I want to take a fjord and my friends Haffy on pleasure rides rather than take 2 boxes and its unladen weight is 2.5 ton so only got 1 ton payload.

If the box weighs 3ton unladened you will have to be very very careful with what you carry as its a hefty fine if caught over weight.

Ooh thanks I'll def check then (and put hubby on a diet ;) ) I've just booked it in somewhere that does both, so he'll look at it and tell me which one I need. Fingers crossed that it works out! It's a bit rusty and about 900 years old but I can't wait lol :)

A CF will be 3.5ton gross so it will need a class 7 mot. Its not a normal car mot & not all garages do them but its not like a lorry plating where they have to go to vosa.

Its over 3t so will have to have a class 7 test - there are quite a number of 'car' MOT places that will go up to bigger vans/small lorries of 3.5t but you will need to check individually. The main reason for car MOT places not all doing class 7 is that their ramps will not go high enough.

HTIOH :)
