Hi

Can anyone recommend self drive horsebox hire in the above areas please?

I've looked on a site that lists a lot of companies in various areas across the country but have only found one in our area. I will be looking into using this one but wondered if there was anyone else to look at. We travel down the a3 so Chessington would be fine to pick up from too. Really surprised there aren't more-perhaps a gap in the Market eh ;)

Thanks :)

Iv used a company called Surrey Horsebox hire, who are based in Belmont, Sutton.
They were great the first time, but the second put me off. Two days before i was due to use the box my horse went lame, called them to let them know i wouldnt be needing it and would just rebook when i knew what was going on with the horse. They advised they wouldnt give me depsoit back- even though their top selling point on the website advertises you get one free cancellation and chance to rebook without your deposit being lost.

This wasnt the case, they ignored my calls and emails, so i gave up in the end

I've used LOC before and while the horsebox is fine, they are rather expensive for daily hire. I have found that it is cheaper to hire a box with driver - I use Ideal Horse Transport nowadays.

Lubuzz-oh gosh what a shame. Their location is absolutely ideal for us but that experience is rather strange and offputting; particularly when most customers will become regulars.. (which would be what we arelooking to do)

Thanks for replying :)

Arizonahoney-hmmmmm I have limited finances so if they're considerably more expensive than the "norm" I guess I'll have to rethink .

Do you use a lorry with driver for shows ? How does it all work? Would've thought that would be extortionate!!! :)

LOC charges £120 a day (inc VAT).

In contrast, I pay a call out fee to my driver, plus waiting time. It does work out cheaper and also it means that I don't have to go and pick up the vehicle, clean it, return it, etc. Plus the driver in question is thoroughly nice :D

Arizonahoney - wow I imagined it would cost a hell of a lot more than the day's hire of the self drive. Glad you told me....something worth looking into! Out of interest - where are you based? PM if prefered - might be worth seeing if we're going to any similar shows as I'd be happy to share cost of box hire :-)

Website states will lose deposit unless 72 hours notice given. So do days is only 48 hours notice, and would not expect deposit back. http://www.countyhorseboxhire.co.uk/horseboxhirekentlondonsurreysussex.html#8
