Has anyone ever hired a horsebox on long term lease (about 6 months). I am really keen to get out and about over the summer months and am looking at the option of hiring for this perid. Really don't have the cash to go out and buy a box and have been thinking about this option - has anyone done it and does it actually save money?? Any thoughts/recommendations much appreciated. It would be a 3.5 tonne and I'm in the bucks area..............

i would have thought that this would work out quite expensive?

Day rate for horseboxes is usually in the region of £100.

Even if this was weekly, for 6 months you would be looking at £2,400 - which isn't even an investment to you as it would be 'dead' money.

I could be wrong, but I don't view this as a cheap option.

i was wondering if it would be overly expensive - might be living in a fairytale world but i thought perhaps the 'daily rate' might be reduced for long term hires!!??

There has got to be an affordable way to get mobile!!

6 month rentals are usually between £600-£700 a month, so definetly not a cheap option. £4000 for 6 months and nothing to show for it seems a lot.

I was quoted £900 per month for a new 3.5t horsebox

That was an ongoing monthly rental rather than a fixed period of 6 months

There are folk in Yorkshire who do long term trailer hire and they are about £900 for the summer season (IW 510)

It's not a cheap option
