Horsebox Horse area dimensions vs. size of horse

I'm currently looking at horseboxes (which is a minefield anyway!) but I was wondering what sort of dimensions the horse area will need to take two 16hh? I'm looking at 5.5t - 7.5t boxes. My horse is only 15hh but I want him to have enough space and also be able to take friends horses (and planning ahead for a future youngster!!). I know about issues with weight but I have no idea how much space is ideal for the horses in back! My friends that have transport all have 3 horse boxes or trailers so I can't measure theirs to get an idea! Thank you!

I would check the dimensions of trailers (Ifor Williams have the dimensions in the downloadable brochures on their website) and then that should give you an idea of what you're looking for - most smaller lorries these days are front or rear facing so checking those measurements should help.
