Morning :D

I'm finally (soooo excited :D) looking at buying a horsebox at the end of the year and have orginally posted about which 3.5t lorry is good for carrying my 16.2 dutch warmblood . . . . However, which insurance companies are reasonable for insuring yourself on a horsebox for a21 year olds ?

If you could let me know your experiences like who you was with and how much for the year and what horsebox you have/had it would be very much appreciated!

Thank you sooo much

P.S I thought when you turned 21 you wouldn't have these problems, but it says over 25's on some of the websites I've been on! :( . . . My dad will however be a named driver :D

KBIS take younger drivers I think, they definitely would have let me put my younger sister in as named driver, know that's different to what you want but at least they seem to accept that under 25s can drive. Give them a call, they are really helpful x

anthony d evans...only cost me £300 when i was 23 and had a claim within the last 5 years...compared to the £700 - £850 i was quoted with a few others!

When i was 21 i was with NFU and couldnt fault them, i have just this year switched to KBIS now i am a bit older (29) as they were a lot cheaper than my renewal that came through (another victim of NFU heavily putting prices up at renewal despite new claims etc)

Hi

I'm 21 and insured on my 7.5t horsebox :) lucky me! But dad's the policy holder and owner of the box, i'm just a named driver.
insured through SEIB, it was THE only one I could find.

Just to note, my documents all say you have to be 25yo but i queried this so many times before i let myself loose with the lorry, they said its ok as long as they know.

I think its just short £350 for the year, which i thought was pretty impressive, as its not a banger of a lorry!

I'm with SEIB (when I was 23) and before then I was with equestrian world insurance services :) But every times its been cheaper than my car insurance :)

my daughter was a named driver on our 3.5t when she was 20yo we insured with NFU. It was approx £350 a year

Wow these are cheaper than car insurance? I expect it has something to do with the fact less people drive stupidly in them.

I just got a quote for my OH or £188.. it didn't specify weather yearly or monthly though? Is it automatically done yearly? Our car insurance gave us monthly and yearly quotes?

You need to get the documents changed to actually include your age. If something happens then you need to know that everything is ok AND in writing.

Additionally, having the lorry & insurance in your fathers name will save you money but your father will be acknowledged as the main driver i.e he does most of the driving. If you do all the driving then you will jot be insured.
