We’ve got ones that don’t slide in just latch over the top. Means they live in the living when not in use. It’s the cheap alternative. Sorry know that’s not what you asked.
I used to have some hook on ones too. They came with the box but I suspect they were cut down from a bunk bed ladder LOL.
I would not recommend them as it was ultra tricky to descend with a saddle in your arms.
My BF made a set of lightweight plastic ones to measure to fit into the doorway of a lorry. It was a pretty simple, lightweight, cost-effective solution. They lifted in and out, no bother. Could that sort of arrangement be a solution?
Our wagon had a similar system of a pull out rung/ladder steps which I have to admit were not the safest/easiest thing to use . When one of our foster children , who had some mobility issues , slipped whilst using them., we took matters in hand and had a joiner make a set of wooden steps for ours . They lived in the living area when not in use and they were so much easier to use than the ladder that I wished we'd done it years earlier .
Thank you everyone - I already have a ladder which hooks over the lip of the door frame, and travels in the living when not being used. I was hoping the slide in/out ones might be more stable and easier to use, because as Red-1 found, the hook on ones are very tricky when carrying a saddle down them, and I fell, saved my saddle but **** my thigh.
It seems that the slide in ones aren't worth the hassle pf cutting holes in the lorry to fit them though, so I will investigate a better/wider/more secure hook on solution
I do have a set of steps for mounting, but they aren't tall enough for the lorry
