My mare wont load in my 3.5 ton box. Im loosing patience. I've tried the feed thing in box, doesnt work. She doesnt respond to pressure halter.

Also has anyone had Richard Maxwell. Just wondering what he's like and how much he charges.

Hi, I think he is quite pricey but good.

I love his books, very interesting and I have heard really good things about him from others inc. old YO who had them out for a very tricky case to which he worked wonders.

So go for it.x

i was going to have him out to help me with loading my mare when we had issues. think it was going to cost £350 for half a day. luckily for me though i found someone near where i lived and we did ongoing training for a few weeks rather than a 1 off.
ive heard great results - think becki2003 has used him for loading issues.

We had Max out to load my friend's horse in my 3.5t horsebox. We'd tried and failed for over a week. Max had him loading in 20 minutes - it was pretty astonishing. Horse now loads everytime. It cost £400 which sounds expensive but it was honestly worth every single penny.

Thanks Slinkyunicorn.

Have looked on IH website and got details of 2 RA's. Didnt think Richard was that expensive and cant afford to have him.

I couldn't write what i think of RM - but what i'd say is there are now loads of people out there who are using the same techniques but won't cost you stupid money and could help with loading so worth looking around.

How about Sarah Fisher? RM had my pony twice and did absolutely nothing yet my EDT who was trained by Sarah Fisher quite literally solved my main problem within 5 minutes of handling him. It was amazing to watch.

Richard Maxwell is brilliant. He talks common sense and leaves the owner with the tools to continue the job. An owner near to my yard helped cover the cost of him resolving her ned's serious loading issue by selling tickets at £10 a go to watch RM work his magic. Was worth every penny and we all had Q&A session with RM over coffee. He's got a website/forum so why not have a nose to see if you like what he has to offer?

I make a bit of kit to help with loading issues. Have a look at www.soloequestrian.com - there is an article on loading and a video of my horse with the Solo Harness. It's been used successfully on at least one horse who had issues with the pressure halters.

know someone whose horse wouldn't load - tried everything. After session with RM he loads everytime -its not at least two or three years on and he still loads first time everytime.

Not very PC to suggest but have you tried poking their bottom with a broom? That was what finally got D to load after all kinds of other more bunny hugging techniques. We only ever did it once and she now loads beautifully every time.

I had RM out to my horse who was a chronic rearer, we didn't do any work with a trailer just worked on groundwork and manners, he has lead and loaded perfectly ever since. Hi isn't cheap but if it solves your problem then its worth it.
RM did train with Monty but his techniques are no longer the same, they parted company a long time ago and RM has his own way of doing things.
