Horsebox Luton Help

Just purchased a horsebox, but didn’t notice that the Luton has a hinged front until I got it home. This means that the Luton isn’t air tight as there are gaps where hinges are and where it connects to base part. Any one had this and how did deal with it? Thinking of putting in a faux wall so that it can be removed…

Years ago we had one like that, we lightly sealed the hinge part and just broke the seal when it needed to be tilted. The bottom edge didn't seem to have a gap so didn't cause any issues.

Thank you! There does seem to be a gap at the bottom too. I think the seal is a good idea, thank you

Mine has a this same flap arrangement - the mechanics love it, because it is quick and easy to remove to work on. I use some strips of a good quality wide duct tape to seal the gaps.

Depending how wide the gap is, a length of rubber hose cut length ways to make a long U shape tube then fed all the way round the luton, have someone hold the luton firmly back to the bodywork and see if it fills the gap if it doesn't then use thicker section hose if it fills the gap use rally car bonnet clips to hold it firmly closed. Not expensive and easy to do. Then duck tape over it if need be.
