I have just purchased a second hand 3.5T horsebox that’s in really good condition

Besides a yearly MOT, how often should the box be checked for things the MOT won’t cover E.g. floor and ramp maintenance?

I would get all the checks done yearly, same time as the MOT.

I would get someone who knows about floors/ramps and understands the forces from horses hooves - a normal mechanic might not know what to look for and think the floor looks fine, when is it isn't. Also the the hinges /bushes on the ramp need checking.

The mot doesn't include servicing, so you need oils/fliuds and filters checking and changing as necessary

Might be worth getting the underneath cleaned and protected, especially before winter and road salt.

Check the roof for leaks starting.
