This may be a totally stupid question but here goes!!
Horsebox doesn't have a built in generator so we have bought a portable suitcase one. Is there a way we can plug this into the hook up point? If not how else do we do it?
Also we can't find the drain for the water tank, any idea where it may be? Any other adivce for a total newbie? Had plenty of time spent in other people's boxes but never had our own! It's a 7.5t if that makes any difference?!?

Unsure about the water tank, but one would assume it'd be on the lowest part of the tank, so check the bottom corners?

Ref the generator, if you have a standard 3 pin, 32A, input then you may have to wire up (nice and easy), or buy, a connecting lead to go from the generator output to the horse box inlet.

You may find that googling 'caravan mains hook up' or 'caravan generator hook up' may be your friend here, if you're unsure.

All the best, Ben

Right so the generator has standard 3 pin socket hole, if I were to buy 3 pin to 230v "fly lead" and then plug the normal hook up cable from that to the lorry hook up point it will work? I do apologise I am blonde and haven't done this before!!

Hair colour and lack of experience is no reason to apologise ;)

Yes, it will work. However, there are a few things to consider when running a generator. They don't produce as smooth a wave form and stable voltage as the mains from your house socket, so if you have sensitive electrical equipment it may affect it's operation. This particularly happens with battery chargers.

Anyway, that's probably more info than you were after. I have a 3.5KVA Honda generator in my van and I use it pretty much every day. They're great bits of kit.
