Hi esteemed experts!
I am considering buying transport for my herd...and can't decide which is better/cheaper/more reliable between;
1. Land Rover Defender and Ifor Williams 510 trailer.
2. Renault Master coachbuilt horsebox (one of mine will be 17hh and big built).
Opinions, please...and some idea of costs?

we sold our wagon due to cost and bought an equitrek. We worked it out that over about 6 years or so the trailer wouldve paid for itself after what we were paying out on the wagon.
I have a disco so I can go and get a lot of bedding etc without having to worry or ordering it in.
Our trailer cost £8500 ish plus car at approx £8000, but havent got a clue as to how much a wagon will cost you. We used to budget for £1000 min a year to keep the wagon on the road - not incl diesel but incl plating, servicing, insurance, tax, roadside assistance etc.

If money was no object then I would buy a box anyday otherwise it would have to be a trailer. No real running costs apart from a yearly service. We thought about a box but only had a small budget so I was afraid I would buy a load of trouble and it would only be used a couple of times a month. Just bought a 2nd hand newish trailer, already had the 4x4 , so will see how we go.

Sorry just got back, we got a Diahatsu fourtrak, just bought a Richardson Supreme Grande but havent picked it up yet so I havent even had him in it yet! Ive previously had 2 Ifors but wouldnt have another ... not with my horse anyway. I dont think he likes the play in the aluminium floor, hence the Richardson. If I could have had any for my stresshead horse, I would have had the Fautras Oblic, travel herringbone or an Equi trek but ali floor again. I will post on here when I finally get it as its at the dealers having a plank replaced in the floor.
Good luck.
