Hi this is probably a stupid question but it's been 20 odd years since I've had a horsebox and I can't remember!

We're buying a little 2 horse horsebox with a rear ramp to load (horses stand sideways) and I can't remember which partition is best suited to travelling 1 pony on its own? The one closest to the living door or the one closest to the ramp? Or does it not matter? I would imagine the one closest to the centre of the lorry? It only has the rear ramp. I should also mention he's not had great experiences travelling in our trailer as the brakes on it are awful and he's skidded a few times in that...so ideally the position that is going to give him the best ride.

Thank you!! ?

If they stand sideways or on a diagonal, you want them close to the nose of the trailer - this will keep the weight forward and make sure the trailer doesn't sway and keeps the weight distribution correct. Below is a video explaining what I mean, in case I wasn't clear!

If they're standing facing forwards, you want your solo traveler to be on the driver's side to counteract road camber, much like how you want your heavier horse on the driver's side.

I would put the horse on the forward one, between the wheels.

I would not out one horse on the very back, alone, as the weight is magnified to the back wheels if the horse is over the back of the back wheels. Like a see saw.

It also gives them more space to turn round.
