Am toying with the idea of getting some new partitions for the lorry, so a few quick questions:

1. Head guard or not?
2. Full length or half rubber?
3. Buy 'off the shelf' or get them made (I know a few people including my OH who could do this!)?
4. If buying ready made, where from?

Just wondering if it would be cheaper to get some made as they are well over £200 to buy 'off the shelf' as it were, and any recommendations appreciated...

Yes, am erring towards getting them made. Am slightly concerned about half rubber as he kicks a lot when left on the lorry as he is a stroppy horror, but then again it may be better as he may stop when they give rather than making an oh so satisfying noise!

I have full partitions with a head guard they then have rubber at the very lower half. Half rubber if a horse steps sideways can catch another horse IMO

Full length plywood ones reinforced with metal and head guards. Was wondering if he would kick less if he could see out more (i.e. no head guards).

You could always use that clear rubber sheeting (like going into a cold store type!) instead of heavy rubber. A friend has this and it makes the box so much lighter as well. I'd always go for head guards in case you travel more than one that want to eat each other!

You could have head guards like the ones in my lorry.

Good idea 4faulter, like it a lot.

What I really want is one of those ultra posh lorries where the side drops down and they can put their heads out as thougyh they are in a stable...but until I win the lotto....

Be really careful with full length, i would always go for rubber. My mare (normally a very good traveller) managed to get herself in a bit of a tizz on one journey and kicked straight through a full length partition. Not nice to see a huge hole in the back and there were tons of splinters which could have easily gone in to her leg had we not realised sooner. Fortunately she didnt hurt herself!

Mine came with bum guards. Whoever originally constructed the interior welded the headguards on at the hinge end - duh! Just had them moved when it was serviced last week.
