Sorry if this question has been asked before - I had a quick look but couldn't find anything.
My husband runs his own company. I have heard that you can buy a horsebox through the company and claim VAT back. Is this correct? Is it legal?
Many thanks x

He would only be able to reclaim the VAT if it was a proper business expense. So unless he needs a Horsebox for his business, no he can’t.

that's what I thought - I just couldn't work out how people had been able to claim VAT back on them. Do you know if the position would change if the company sponsored my daughter and maybe advertised on the box? Sorry if this sounds a bit of a numpty question.

HMRC will challenge a claim for sponsorship costs where the main beneficiary is a family member or the sponsor is connected to the beneficiary
