Have just got a new box, the ramp has hinges at the bottom, internal gas struts. To fasten the ramp, you slam it and there is a small handle either side, mid way up, bit like a long door handle, with an internal latch not much bigger than a door latch. Builder says that this is fine, most of strain on ramp is through hinges.
I didn't know it was going to be fastened like this, obv I had seen pictures but didn't realise that the external handles did not correspond to any kind of internal rod and bar system. I just feel uneasy that this is not safe
Would love to be wrong and for you all to say "that's how my modern ramp fastens"
Is there any kind of independent body I could clarify this with otherwise?

the ramp doors are glassonite and very strongly bolted to steel reinforcing post

They use those sort of handles on refrigerated lorries, so I assume they are fit for purpose
