Horsebox - replacing chassis & cab

We bought a friend's 7.5t horsebox this year with the intention of at some point replacing the cab & chassis (the horse container part is aluminium & in fairly good condition & before buying we did check out whether it would be possible to move it to a new chassis).

Have decided that I'd like to replace the chassis sooner rather than later, anyone done this & can you recommend any good sources of suitable used vehicles (north west area)?
Would prefer leyland (current lorry is leyland) & can spend 8k- 10k.

TBH, you'd be better off buying a properly converted lorry. I beleive it is quite expensive to change cab and chasis

I had my box moved from an old Bedford onto a newer leyland DAF and it want expensive at all. I didnt have skirts (whcih can cause problems because you need the wheels to line up) and I selected to have the luton removed because it made the job much slimpler but all in all it cost £1500 but I got a £500 discount for the old Bedford.

One of my friends had her cab/chassis replaced & it wasn't expensive & was done very quickly, I just want to get as good quality vehicle as possible. Am contacting couple of local people who deal with horseboxes, just wondered if anyone had any ideas about other sources of the chassis.

I am having a lorry built. I got my 2002 reg LF Daf, from Martin Taylor Commercials (MTC) www.mtchorseboxes.com

These people deal in lorries, and build horseboxes, so could probably help you.

Someone on our yard did the same thing. They bought an old Royal Mail box, it was quite new but im not sure where they sourced it from but I will ask them for you. They sent it to Halco Leisure in Hooton for all the work to be done. Its not back yet so I dont know what it looks like but they are supposed to be good. PM me if you want their contact details.
