Ok so I may be a *smidge* precious about tieing ponies up to the side of my horsebox and repeated people (generally ones who have to hold cobbler while I tack her as I refuse to tie her up 😀) have said you can get a pad thingy that magically attaches over the tie rings without damaging paint 🤔

Anyone got one or know what the bleep I should Google to find one?!

I had one and they were a PITA to be honest. It only covered the part of the lorry where the horses were tied up but it was still too big and awkward to put up and carry around. It also scared the living daylight out of my wimp horse/ fearless eventer if it moved in the wind or anything and it also meant I couldn't use the skirt lockers on that side. It also was an additional thing to faff around with when you got to a show and just wanted to be focusing on the horses and competing.

Others might have had them and loved them but mine had very very light use.

Oh and on top of that I found you had to be very careful when you attached it not to accidentally damage said paintwork....

I think I've used an external tie ring once in 7 years and thst was a well meaning friend who did it, always use inside..... am no help at all, sorry

I've always tacked up on lorry in the past but cobbler prefers to come out of box and see where she is :)

Google throws up www.horseboxprotectionmats.co.uk. They are huge but would protect the side of the box perfectly 😁

Well yes that'd do it 😂 Seems they need to have fixings on the lorry however 🤔

I take it you have this style of tie ring? http://www.horsetrailershop.co.uk/h...-tethers/ifor-williams-horse-trailer-tie-ring

I've seen just thin rubber matting screwed/bolting onto the external wall by the tie ring before to stop haynets scratching the paintwork.

Also these (scroll down to the bottom of the page)

Eta - there's also a couple of websites coming up- horseboxprotectionmats.co.uk and bratsmats.co.uk

I haven't used any of the companies I've linked to, just found them on Google (it's a quiet day in the office!)

You can easily make you own out of lorry curtainside vinyl which is relatively cheap to buy and comes in all colours...I made this up for our horsebox build and used plastic turnbuckles to hold it in place.
Really simple to do....0D76C259-6475-4C54-A6D7-706ADC033BF9.jpeg

Ooh very neat FC! Like TFF I just avoid this by doing everything on the inside now so am no helps. I do have a Hannah Francis decal that I got for Xmas that I still haven’t put up and am wondering whether that could go on the tie up side !

Can I ask how you attached the swivel clips. Are they stuck on or drilled through? I’d love to make one but don’t know how to attach to the side of a 3:5 box.
