Can anyone recommend a company who provides breakdown cover for both 4x4 and trailer? Have finally got the courage to tow my horse alone but would like to take out some breakdown cover just incase as my husband won't always be available to come with it? Any good recommendations

I think I'm right in saying that the OHTO (Owners of Horseboxes & Trailers Organisation) cover you if the breakdown is your car, ie they would give you a replacement towing vehicle. They are underwritten by the AA. I've got a company car so my policy is not linked to a car policy so it's £75 a year, cheaper though I think if you're already an AA member.
Whomever you decide to go with, it's definitaly worth getting for the peace of mind.

Hi, Ive got 4x4 with some company (cant remember off the top of my head) and just taken cover out for the trailer with Equinerescue.co.uk. Cost £45 I think. Doesnt matter who your car is with they will sort out the trailer and transport horse for you to your destination, stabling overnight or home.

RAC do both and will sort your horse(s) out too if they cant get you going. Trailer cover is £45 for year and is a worth it if you broke down on a Motorway. Costs a fortune if this happened to you to get helped off. Very good value for money. (you have to have personal breakdown cover with them to get the trailer cover) Worth it for all round peace of mind I think.
