Does anyone know where I could look for this?
I'm in the position where I'll be able to get out and about a lot more with my pony from now until Sept when I move and am interested in hiring a horsebox or trailer for the duration of this period. I don't want to buy one as I only need it for 3 months and the costs of hiring as a one off every time I want to go out (atleast once a week) would be eye watering...so just wondering if anyone had any ideas for places that they do long term hire.

Thanks in advance

I think Bicester Horsebox Hire may do this, I know they can arrange long term hiring but not sure if thats years as opposed to months

Not exactly local to you but not a million miles away

I know nothing about trailers/horse boxes so am reluctant to buy with the view to selling on as I can imagine lots of things can go wrong! :/ Needing new parts etc.

Also, do people often buy going into the winter? I would have thought it would be more spring that they'd buy.

you will sell all year round in winter the hunters and indoor jumpers will buy them , dont sell it its always there and its paid for ,a local mechanic will service it every year for not a lot of money.

Problem is I really don't need one any longer than Sept as moving to yard where YO has big box I'll be hitching a lift on to shows. Don't want to be stuck with a trailer that has potential to need bits and pieces replacing etc, otherwise I would be tempted just to buy and sell on.

Edgemere hire out Equitrek and Ifor trailers, and 3.5 Equitrek boxes.

Not cheap at all though:
£650/pm for 6 months for a 3.5 Equitrek (http://ukhorsetrailers.com/collections/equitrek-horsebox-under75)
£160/pm for 6 months for the cheapest Equitrek trailer (http://ukhorsetrailers.com/collections/equitrek-trailer)
£150/pm for 6 months for an Ifor trailer (http://ukhorsetrailers.com/collections/ifor-williams-trailers)

It's dead money to a certain extent, you'd certainly be better off buying and then selling when you don't need it anymore. You might even make a profit - I paid £2.5k for my trailer and sold it 8 months later for £3.2k, having done very little work to it.

If you have a B+E licence then ignore but if only got B please reply

Wouldn't be me driving the box/towing, it would be my dad who got his license before 1996 so allows him to drive...all sorts!! Not sure exactly what he can/can't drive but I know on his license he can both tow a trailer and drive a 3.5t box.

Am afraid I don't know enough about trailers to ensure I had a good investment :/ But I totally see what you guys mean about it being "dead money" and I agree

If you have a suitable towing vehicle I would buy a second hand trailer look after it well then sell it on , it will be much the cheapest option .

If you have a car licence then you can tow it with DAD sitting next to you
