*Of trying to decide what i want

What ever happens it seems as though a 4X4 is a certainty so lets start there

If finances are available then paying a fairly large one off to get BE and paying for a trailer has got to be worth serious consideration

If the trailer is not used that much then how many friends do you have that might wish to borrow it for a financial consideration because that might get a few coppers back

ROG, I think even your friend would have a hard job training me.

Everytime I have failed (all 3 if them :-() has been for a different reason, its not that I can't do it, I know it is narrower but manage perfectly well with my 401, its just damn nerves!!!

Do agree tho, the test is for life so if u can and aren't a silly blonde, would def suggest doing the B+E, if it goes wrong then u can go the downplating route :)

Bateson Derby only takes 2 x 14.2 or 1 up to 16 hand with partition out - I know as I had one that I sold this year. Great little trailer and I used to tow Stinky in it with my car as it was so light.

I now take him and Farra out so have upgraded to the Bateson Deuville and a 110 Defender. I personally think the Batesons are super trailers - easy to move by yourself as they are so light and my horses travel very well in them.

If you are looking at buying the Derby from someone called Fiona in your area, that was my trailer and it is in very good condition. I replaced the floor just before I sold it, everything was checked out and it is a sound and super trailer and well worth buying. I owned it for 5 years and only sold it as I needed a bigger trailer.

I personally like to have my own trailer as I am normally out most weekends in summer and at least twice a month in winter. I also use it to go and collect my hay and save £1 a bale by doing so.

This is probably well out of your price range but it might give you an idea of what is out there in regards to a 4X4 vehicle and trailer that can be used with a B licence ............

I found a Skoda (VW) 4X4
http://www.buyacar.co.uk/skoda_octavia_diesel_estate/car_20_tdi_cr_4x4_5dr_21071.jhtml

Also a lightweight horse trailer which can be downplated to 1400
http://www.batesontrailers.com/trailer-detail.asp?ID=25&cat=6

Car Specs are
Minimum Kerbweight 1425
Gross Vehicle Weight 2100
Max. Towing Weight 1600

Trailer specs could be this when downplated by manufacturer
MAM 1400
Unladen 675
Load weight available 725

That set up would be legal for towing with a B licence
