Hi so having decided i need a 7.5t box for my growing horse Ive got one about to be inspected however I've re measured horse today and she's 8ft3 nose to tail and in 6ft9 moving into 7ft rugs the wagon is 7ft9 just wondering how much room you gain on the herringbone style and making partition on a slant and whether she will actually fit without hurting herself or do I go back to the drawing board transport wise thanks in advance

I think it will depend on how much you can angle the partitions and you may not be able to carry another horse unless it is quite short in the back. I've carried a friend's horse in my last 7.5, he was extremely long but he travelled OK

As oldie18 has said most 7.5 ton horse boxes where you have a rear ramp will have partitions that you can adjust to herring bone & will be able to carry your horse. I have a 7.5 ton horsebox with rear ramp and adjustable partitions & I can easily carry my 16h3 horse with another 16h1 horse. When you are looking for a suitable box take your tape measure with you because some side openers will not be able to carry large horses. There are a few boxes out there that may be 8' wide but there are not many, 7'9" is normal in many lorries so I think you'd be alright with them.

My old share horse, (17hh, 7' rugs AND a very long neck) really struggled to fit on the 7.5t his owner bought especially for him - it was stalled for two and she couldn't angle the partition enough to give him the room he needed. It seemed his neck was the issue more than his body. She sold it and bought an equitrek trailer. Because it had the breast bar and room for his head and neck over it, he was much more comfortable. Maybe a long wheel base 3.5 / 4.5 would be worth considering?
