ive brought a horsebox as a project and im gutting it and starting again !!

if anyone can help i need to know the what width to put the partitions there going herringbone and want to know how far apart they need to be,the body is 16ft and i want to put a substantional living in it,i only want to take 2 horses max but want enouth for 3 incase i sell it eventually

Absolutely no idea re widths etc, can only tell you that mine in length is 12'6 and that it has three partitions in it (four ponies/3 small horses/2 large horses)

Good luck with the project tho!
 
They go on a track one end (back end) so that they can be adjusted to suit individual horses and then the other end are telescopic so that they can also be adjusted in length if that makes sense.
 
Hi,

I've just registered as I was after a bit of advice about my Rice trailer. It's getting an overhaul as it has stood since last April (apart from moving a 3 piece suite!!!) due to pregnancy and arrival of baby. (I have already started looking for her first pony ha ha ha!!!).

Any ideas what I can paint the outside with apart from Hammerite? They have some nice colours in the range but the final finish isn't that smooth.
 
Madhouse? Seems to be one of the few Equine Forums that people use!!!

I might try the Marine shop down the road - but I think the kind of boats they do are fibre glass.

I'm currently discussing colours with my Other Half - for some reason he doesn't think purple is acceptable. Unlucky!!!
 
I move mine depending how much room each horse likes to have. Mine is stalled for three but i only travel two and use the other part for all the saddle racks and bridles. That way i keep the living just mainly for the humans.
 
Our horses need 10 fit in length - nose to tail - and 3ft 6 min width. They are large. So needed 11 foot min length of horse area to fit them in. as have to have a 45 degrees angle across. Well did- now changed to a 2 x 10ft forwards facing stalls so canhave 7 ft clear living within an 18 ft body.

Partition railings have holes and slots to move to suit, in about 6 inch intervals.
Partiniotn jhave extending ends to vary length from eaxct fit across fro teenis to at bolt at 45 degrees.

For bruihsing Tractor Paint is a smooth finish, and economical, fair range of colours, from you local Agricultral merchant /tractor shop.
 
I didn't even know there was such a thing as Tractor Paint!!!

Thanks for that, will ask at the farm later where the nearest place is (assuming I don't get a call beforehand saying my horse has gone through the electric fence again!).
 
Landrover paint - Rice trailers were always painted in Landrover paint because everyone pulled them with Landrovers!

You can get that at farm supplies stores like tractor paint. Have fun! (getting on top of the trailer is okay as I remember, but getting down again was a bit interesting

I knew a Forum would help!!!

I'm going to cheat doing the top - my OH is a builder so I'm going to nick his scaffolding for a weekend! Of course being female I won't know how to work it so he'll have to put it up. Then it'll be high so I won't be too steady on it, so he'll have to do the roof (that's my plan anyway!!!).

Exactly - like I said - the partitions are fully adjustable so that they can be"spaced" to accommodate bigger or smaller horses.
The track they fit into runs the whole width of the horse area.
 
The comfort of the horses that travel in it is very important and you are right to think about it, but crucially you need to think about how you will distribute the payload on the axles. This is absolutely crucial for stability and safety and needs quite a bit of thinking (start by looking at the plaiting certificate and it might be worth going to a weigh-bridge to check the weight).

dont worry we have all this sorted due to all family members being farmers ect and having a cattle haulage business and being machanics,also uncle mots big lorrys,i just want to know about the partitions for my own peace of mind
