Horseboxes with gadgets

Another one who finds it really useful to be able to lock the ramp from inside the lorry.
Roof fan for the horse area
Light switches are just inside the door into the living where I can reach them from outside to put on the lights in the horse area for loading..
Open fronted tack cupboard inside the living (takes up surprisingly little space) so that the kids can clean the tack on our way to places rather than at midnight the night before after the preparations have run on...
A button in the living that when pressed in turns the generator off without having to go out of the warm fug back out in the cold and wet.
Cassette toilet.
Big water tank + electric pump - although I do have to consider weight if I have more horses on.
Rarely use the microwave - the hob and decent size fridge are vital.
Rarely use the "blow" heating - the hob heats it up quicker.
Rarely use the washbasin - its tiny and easier to use the sink.
Never felt the need for a shower or hot running water.
Really thick curtains across the cut-through insulates the living from the vast expanse of heat-losing windscreen.
Lights with their own switches in the ceiling above the luton.
We do have a side-locker which encroaches onto the horse area and I am slightly in two minds about that although the storage is very useful. It is much taller than most I've seen though and I don't think any of mine would be remotely tempted to try to get a front leg onto it - just doesn't look doable. Its also a good height to sprinkle a few grass nuts onto - which I think is one reason my baby horses very quickly learn that its a good place to go.

Hi, we looked at these, very pricey, not too sure about build quality and it lasting plus resale prices and check the payload once is fitted with all extras but was a tidy looking box.

Sovereign boxes a absolutely lovely, really nice to work out of and for the horses. I'm a second one to say be careful of whittakers, I've seen the electrics fail on them and after a day competing you do not want to be sat in the lorry park til midnight waiting for a lift home...massive sense of humour fail all round!! Extras wise, air con in the horse area, easy to move partitions, drain holes in horse area for hosing it out. Living wise, if your going to be staying away a lot then a decent bathroom preferably with an actual flushing loo. Emptying at casette loo after 4 days sat in the sun at an event is not nice at all! Also, a boiling water tap! Best thing ever!

If you want to know about Equitrek we sell those so pm me for details

Our latest endorsement was from Nichola Wilson when she was parked between a whittaker box and an Oakley- and both of their electrics failed so everyone ended up in her box!

A simple thing that we find useful is a power inverter instead of a generator. It plugs into the living batteries and means u can run tv etc of it. Our batteries last 7 hourd depending how much u run off it. So ok for one night away but maybe not a few days. Good nit having noise of generator!

I'm another one who'd second not having an electronic ramp, having witnessed a horse stuck in a lorry for hours. If you must get one, I'd make sure it has a manual release that can be accessed within seconds. A lorry is still an engine. It could catch fire - who has time to wait for electric ramps in those situations? :(

Otherwise, my favourite gadgets would be a video into the horse compartment so you can see exactly what they're up to on the road, a fridge for cool drinks. I also think awnings are severely under-rated. Was at a show a few years ago that was blistering hot and I really struggled to keep my boy cool. There was no shade on the open field showground and the lorry, being a metal box, was an oven.

Air con in the horse department? Not sure if you can get such a thing but would be great to be able to regulate box temperature for them a little.
