So I don't have my own transport and would love to get out and about without relying on others.
I'd ideally like to look at getting a horsebox as a trailer and a 4x4 would cost me quite a bit as the car would have to replace one our of little cars and the mpg etc would be a lot less.
How much did you all pay for your horse boxes, how much tax per year, average cost of fuel per tank? Thanks :)

We're thinking about going the other way, because our elderly box is getting expensive to run. It does about 5 miles to the litre - a big leyland, but not HGV. When things go wrong it's a nightmare because he bits aren't made any more.

I have a 7.5 t leyland daf p reg. Paid 5k for it, professionally horse area but no living. Hubby converted living for 750 csrpeted walls, lino down, caravan units, table...looks good and servicable. I pay £165 tax, £287 insurance inc breakdown with anthony evans insurance. Mot is £90 and so far, 3 years down passed with flying colours...have a good friend who is a hgv mechanic tho which helps as just pay hi cash or bottles of beer for servicing it for me! Much cheaper to run that and my cleo than my old jeep and trailer. Altho we have to go back to trailer as horses coming home and have no where to park it boo hoo :(

That doesn't sound too bad topstripelucy just the initial cost I think will be my problem. I work in the motor trade so servicing and mot is cheap for me. :) need to start saving me thinks!
