I'm interested to find out how much it costs to keep horses in other countries, from passing comments I've heard it seems that livery costs here are quite expensive.

So how much does livery cost in other countries (equivalent price in £ too please!) What do you get for your money? What about things like feed, bedding, shoeing etc? Do costs vary as much as in the UK?

Also input from UK-based people too - how much do you pay? What is the average for the UK?

Another factor is bound to be how much grooms/yard workers are paid, how does this compare?

In the Toronto area for the good English barns, anywhere from $500 - $1000/month. In pounds, it would be approx half that number.
What does it cost in the UK?

My yard charges from £80 per month for DIY grass livery (basically just space in a shared field) to £450 for full livery (feed, mucking out, daily turn out, rug changing, daily groom etc.)

I pay the equivalent of around 20 pounds per week over in oz, Although the exchange rate is pretty messed up... its $45 per week.

Thats for a stable, day paddock and small tack/feed shed. All work is on DIY basis... full board you would be looking at around 65 pounds per week ($145)

It depends a lot on where in each country too...and the management style... I know people here in Australia (in central Sydney, on full board) that pay close to $2000 a month to keep there single horse...

We keep over 30 (currently 39) in the middle of nowhere and because we are payling a lot less for feed and buying things in bulk, are paying around $500 per horse per year.. including all Vet and Farrier costs...hehe doing that stuff yourself helps the budget!
