Just had a look on the Horeshage website and apparently the High Fibre and Timothy versions are suitable for laminitics. Have checked the analysis and the sugar level in both is less than 3%.

So in theory it should be safe to feed?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I use the blue bag horseage for my old laminitic shetland through the winter so that she maintains her weight as she is now 32 and she is absolutely fine on it. The horseage company is owned by our friends, the Westaways and so i asked him direct to make sure she wouldn't come to any harm and he was 100% that she would be fine. I have been feeding it to her for 4 winter seasons now.

Brilliant, thanks for your replies.

My horse is on box rest with a collateral ligament injury and stress induced laminitis and isn't really interested in her hay and as she has suffered from gastric ulcers this is a worry. She was on haylage prior to the injury and always ate well so hopefully she'll like the horsehage.

I'm thinking about trying the High Fibre type, but on the website it says the Timothy is good for fussy feeders so I'm not sure which would be best for her?

try the high fibre bag and if she likes it stick with that: if she wont have it then go for the Tasty Timothy (giving in at sweetie counter but still safe:-) Only cos if on box rest the high fibre has less in it to put on the lbs

I am interested too as my horse is on box rest and I am thinking of things to keep his interest levels up and give him some variety. Also our hay which is supplied by the yard has been pretty C*&p recently.
