Has anyone had experience of using one of the above - can you recommend any near Hertfordshire?
What sort of price are they?

I live in the north of Scotland and amn't very mechanical so thought it might be a good thing to get done before trapesing the the length of the country to look at 1 box!

My friend had her 3.5T inspected by some people advertising in the back of the H&H

They missed the exhaust leaking into the horse area and around £1,000 of other repairs. She paid £300 for the inspection, so was a complete waste of time!

I'd find a good mechanic or someone recommended through word of mouth rather than advertisements in H&H etc.

I'm in Scotland too and I used one in Surrey when I bought my present lorry. He was excellent, although he did tell me that one back brake disc would need replacing shortly. Have had the box two years now, and my very experienced mechanic could find nothing wrong with it, and it has flown throughh plating twice!!

Don't know if they would go to Herts. If you can't find anyone closer, PM me and I'll try to find the phone no. I think i found them on a Google search.

We used the guy who we have hired horseboxes from before - Bicester Horsebox Hire (here's the link to the Yellow Pages entry) http://www.yell.com/listings/DoFindListi...re/Horse-Boxes.

Brad charged us £110 but saved us £500 as we negotiated the price down after his inspection. Based in Bicester but went to see our lorry in Bucks for us. I supect Herts would be OK.

He's now nearly £200, but I would still highly recommend him!
