Horselyx

Far too much sugar in them for my native pony. He has a salt lick which he likes but it is a natural one. As a treat he has the equilibrium munches in a munch net which he enjoys - does not last that long and not that cheap but much healthier treat.

Personally I think it is irresponsible for the horselyx company to be marketing them as a healthy treat suitable for good doers including shetlands and laminitics.

I somehow don't think it's going to kill him OP...BUT I probably wouldn't give him another.
Added sugar is not a good thing but as a very occasional treat I see no harm.
Could you get inventive with some swedes? Hang them up etc. And maybe use a dog sized treat ball with a few apple and carrot pieces in? :)

my nf pony has the original one, but never gets its more than once a week for about 10 mins at a time, usually if i need him to stand still for something, but i'd never leave him alone with it as he has figured out how to break all the plastic box and never stops! :o

hes had it for months and is nowhere near halfway down the box, shows how little he gets before anyone jumps on me!

My 7 year old daughter loves the taste, and I have a bit of cold at the moment but its cleared my nose... great stuff. (If its not safe for human consumption, it was nice knowing you all, but at least we'll smell fresh and minty as we keel over)

I have loads of the little ones... always seem to win them at shows. They generally float around at the bottom of a grooming box until they melt.... the joys.
I have this winter decided to have salt licks in every stable, i have two himalayan licks and one rockies one that no one seems to like it.

When it was really wet and they were in abit more i was going to get those hayblocks, thry come with diffferent herbs etc and you put them in mini haynets. One horse is high lami risk, assume these would be better.... at least they have fibre.

My horses favourite treat is custurd creams 😯😁(and mine too!) But we dont get them very often as i try to eat paleo.

I also think its very irresponsible esp as they have a " healthy hoof" picture on the front as well. Does make me angry.

I leave one in for my horse overnight. He has had his current one for over 8 months ( it is the large 15kg paddock one though) He does not gorge and only seems to have it himself on occasion when he feels like it.
