Has anyone seen this? I've just got it but can't do a print screen for some reason. They suggest it as a good idea for a Christmas present for a pony mad child but then go to list these horses under £500...one of which is a 2 year colt. A bit irresponsible for such a big company!

So glad somebody else was as shocked as I was by this! It's not even the specific horses they use as examples, it's the fact that they are advising people to buy an animal as a Christmas present at all.

i got it too and was thinking "wtf?"

£500 in todays market would buy an unbroken youngster or a very old companion!!

nor would i thank anyone buying me a£500 horse as a present! (unless it was a nice dressage pony!)

Have you sent an email to them to complain? We should all do it, some stupid non horsey person who works there probably thought it was a good sales ploy!

The Horsemart website has obviously been designed by someone who knows nothing about horses! You only have to look through a few ads to see they don't have a clue about horses and now this shows that as well as having no knowledge, they don't care either.

It's disgusting really.

Oh for crying out loud. Don't they know ANYTHING about horses and unsuitable owners? Shame on you editor and staff at Horsemart, for a long -running and generally reputable website this is a very bad move indeed. A horse isn't just for Christmas (I can feel a car sticker coming on).

I have emailed "Horsemart" with the following response entitled Irresponsibe advertising......

Why is Horsemart encouraging people to advertise young ponies as christmas presents for young children, there is enough cruelty and irresponsible behaviour connected to the equine world without an established equestrian advertising company promoting it !!

May I suggest other people concerned about this advert do the same perhaps it might prick someone's conscience...thank you to the person who posted this on here and bought it to the attention of geniune horse lovers.

Can I suggest you all make a complaint to the advertising standards authority they have the teeth to get the ad pulled and with proper publicity.

I got this email too and came on here knowing there would be a thread started ! .... Its absolutely terrible for such a reputable horse selling website to make it look acceptable for 'parents to buy their children a cheap horse as an xmas present', and as already mentioned they are youngsters anyway !?

I was annoyed to say the least !!
