Horsequest

What all of them? There is a lot on there. I think some are expensive but then there are some that are fair/reasonable.
We sold our Cob Blackie though them.

TBH when i started looking for horses a few months ago i was shocked at the price of horses just now, u are lucky to find anything nice for under £4000 (which is a lot to me)

Well the ones i looked at seemed over priced for what they do.
£4700 for a "lazy Plod" !!! Madness!

NearlY £3000 for a horse that does'nt like schooling or jumping??

Just playing devils advocate, but what price do you put on safety???? If the horse is what they say they are then why aren’t they worth that? How many times to you here of people over horsing themself with something that cost £6000 plus!

We sold a lovely little cob to some novices (with a great instructor) for just under £4000, and they are having a great time with him. Why wasn’t he worth that?!?

Im not saying he was'nt, and im not talking about your horse. Im not judging anyone. I just think some prices on their are over inflated. Just because a horse is a lazy plod that wont harm you does'nt mean I would be prepared to pay £4700 for it.

I am just trying to get peoples opinion on the website thats all.

I agree, i think that there are too many horses on there to stamp the 'overpriced' lable on it! Horsemart to me has always been a good site with a good range of horses!

totally agree with bonita, i always look on horsemart first because of the great range, also because u can do a full detailed seach so you don't need to trail through ads which are of no interest if you kno what i mean

Oh no I know you weren’t judging. As a website I personally prefer horsemart as it has a better search engine.
You may not be prepared to pay that for a plod but there are people out there that are. I may be slightly different from the norm but I believe that if you want a nice horse (one that is right for the buyer) then you should be prepared to pay for it. The expensive bit isn’t buying the horse in the first place it’s everything else that comes after it, lessons, tack, livery etc.

why cant you just look at both...? why does horsequest have to be an alternative? unless you are advertising? When i was looking i looked EVERYWHERE... in the end the horse found me as i advertised myself.

i think everyone looks everywhere, but misshell was just discussing that certain website

i also advertised myself, and as many people told me i got loadsa nutters offered to me but i have found a couple of real potential horses

misshell what have you been looking for??

The other side of the mass-overpricing is that horses priced realistically are often viewed with suspision. Also some sellers are convinced that more expensive = better quality of rider wanting to buy.

You can't win.

Sallypops thanks. Im looking for a horse approx 16hh, first horse to be used mainly for hacking and a bit of jumping. Must hack alone aswell as company.
Can't get seriously looking until later in the year so im just keeping an eye on the market for the moment.

[/ QUOTE ]I think there is a premium on the price of very quiet confidence givers for nervous riders because that is a sellers market. In recent years more people are taking-up riding for the first time in adulthood and these are the most difficult to get kind of horse after all!

I don't really like horsequest, the horses do seem to be higher in price than horsemart/deals.
However my main reason for not liking it is because I cannot search for what I am looking for, and you have to just look in the sections and hope something is in there.

personally i like horsequest, and when i was looking for a horse i was on there all the time. its updated daily and if you know whats on there, you know whats new, and can ring up quickly.
i bought my horse off horse quest, and as websites go i think its great.
