I am currently doing a degree in equine mangement, previously i used to work in racing.

it came up in one of my classes that the love for horses has disserpeared in the racing industry and has been replaced with a love of money.

is this true??

im interested on what your opinions on the subjuct may be....

I know nothing about racing (except when I watch it on on channel 4, Saturdays!) but from what I understand it is a business, and like any other business it has to make a profit to survive, the horses are a means to an end - they have to make money, but then it is a HUGE business with millions even being ploughed in from abroad.

Everyone knows about the effects of racing on young horses but nothing is ever changed (for years and years) I expect because there is just too much money being made? so maybe the love for money is just too much vs the love for horses

Punters love money, most stable staff love horses. This is no different to times gone by. Just because the horses have a job doesn't mean they aren't loved but not in a bunny hugging way.
