Horserugs4u - Warning!

The last time I ordered my rug didn't come. After 3 weeks I chased them up and they said they were having trouble with paypal and couldn't get the monies through (had been taken from my account though!). They said they couldn't send the rug until they received the money or unless I paid (again) by credit card! I told them no, I wanted a refund. Many phonecalls later, I got my paypal refund.

Well I have emailed them, and then today I rung them and they said that maybe the rug was no longer in stock, so I reminded them that they had my £125! Would it be possible to let me know - they were going to call me back in an hour!
Guess what - no phone call!

So I have sent another email - I could do with the rug otherwise I wouldn't have ordered it.

I see that they are advertising rugs "UKs Top Horse Rugs Site" at the top of this page!!!! PLEASE HorseRugs4U GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!!!!

This could do with being stickied really. Unlikely if HH is accepting their advertisng though!

Theyve being doing this for more years than I can even remember, they really are a bargepole company.

Sadly, they still catch a lot of people out who havent googled for a review. As for the advertising, their leaflets used to always fall out of horsey magazines along with a well known "insurance" company.

I can only think they managed to catch out enough new customers/new horseowners through advertising in horse mags.

if you ordered by credit card then call the credit card company and ask them to cancel the charge (technically a chargeback or a reversal). If you pay by credit card your contract is with the credit card company, not the rug company, so the credit card company is liable for non delivery.

If you pay by deit card there isnt any such protection.

With paypal you can also ask for the charge to be reveresed

Oh *******, I have ordered twice off them before with no problems so thought nothing of ordering 3 rugs last week. Emailed them this am to find out where they were...no reply and then I have just read this thread, bug***. Wish I had paid by credit card but it was debit bum!

Thanks for that, I will contact my bank tomorrow, it was a visa debit card and that is a bit better than a maestro apparently for getting your money back! In the mean time I have sent a strongly worded email siting legal action should I not receive an answer by the end of tomorrow about getting my money back, and also stated I would be ringing continually in the morning to fully harass them!!!

Still no communication, am going to try again tomorrow, but after reading the newer stuff on here I am thankful that I paid by credit card. Shouldn't have to happen though should it? I am after a Rambo Fly Rug Hoodie-style 6' 9" - its not fly season now but I still need one for a horse with an itchy belly (for now and the spring)!! So if one wasn't available you would think it would not be listed!

I was very nice and polite to the chap I spoke too, was thinking no use going in with all guns blazing till I knew the facts! This only rubs people up the wrong way more! And then they will be no use to us at all! I have been in business myself and it can be tough. But......!

Snuggy Hoods have an end of season sale on sweet itch rugs - rug and headless hood for £85 on ebay if I remember correctly

They are worth every penny IMHO

Thank you WelshD - he has wrecked 2 Snuggy bug rugs!!! I just found the Rambo sweet-itch hoodie to be really useful - have one for my other horse to keep the sun off him, and they are useful for keeping them clean and can be used under lightweight turnout rugs for ease when dashing in and out mornings, evenings etc, with all this rain one minute, sun the next (we should be so lucky). Anyway thank you, there is a rug sale on this weekend locally that sells Horseware rugs - knowing my luck I will end up with two of them!!!! ;)

Just HAD a call from HR4U and the sweet itch hoody IS out of stock they offered the fly-buster instead but not what I wanted, so asked them to refund my cc and they happily agreed, so looks like a trip to the New Forest this weekend for the rug sale at Norris & Sons at Beaulieu (SO42 7YG for those interested). At least I know what is happening now. Hope everyone else gets a positive result without too much stress!

Yep, same experience - I paid for an Amigo no fill turnout rug from them months ago, never arrived. Only cost about £23 and no response to emails, so its not really worth the cost of my time in chasing it. Still annoyed though, as Amigo no fill turnouts are hardly hard to obtain or stock.

In fact, so many equestrian based companies are badly run. They seem to think they are doing you a favour if they fulfill your order. I'm currently waiting for a 200g turnout rug from Pre-Equestrian, who have replied in multiple to my emails, but mainly taking exception to the fact that I called their chosen carriers stupid for not being able to find my address or being able to read a map, and simply giving up and refusing to deliver it, saying my address was "incorrect/doesn't exist". Still don't have the rug but I have many bleating emails from Pre Equestrian "defending" their carriers and lecturing me on how "delivery drivers are intelligent people". But I still don't have the rug, and its a housing estate, not even a rural address!

I bought some stuff from there - not a rug but other things - and would never use them again. It looks good on the website but it was just too much hassle. I got them in the end but wouldnt use them again
