"Horses and ponies for life!" clique anyone..??

me too. Bailey has a home for life. Non horsy OH has even said that if anything happened to me, he would still keep him, albeit probs loan him out. Ahhhhh

tempted to suggest 'going nowhere' clique as a name.

I think this is a good idea, i want to be in :D Both of mine are never going anywere, one of mine is retired at 12 due to arthritis but hes here until his last days and i love him to bits!! and my other horse is also here forever :D

My horse will never leave my ownership. I would keep her with me despite any health condition she'd ever obtain.
With my old horse I promised him ,when I was ten and had him on part loan, I'd be by his side forever. When I got my first part time job after school I took him on full time and he lived out his days with me.
The only reason I'd full loan would be if i went into serious financial crisis and she was suffering, in which case, she'd go on full loan and come straight back as soon as possible.
I get far too attached to my neddies, I'd like to think they felt the same but I doubt it!

Me too. I 'knew' Khan before he was born, his sire belonged to a friend, and I always wanted one of his offspring, he didn't have that many! When I knew she'd got free summer grazing in exchange for him covering the farmer's mare he was running with, I knew I would want the foal. Saw him when he was a few days old, helped to move him and the mare when the stallion cam back home. Saw him when he'd been weaned, at another friends yard. Came up for sale as a yearling and I just had to have him. That was 17 years ago. He's had sharers over the years, but he will be with me forever. In fact I have nightmares where I lose him. :(:(:(

Me. Me. Me.

My story is similar to Crazydancer's. I knew the offspring of a particular mare and loved them. When she had her 4th foal, i bought her. That was 18 years ago and was the best money I have ever spent. Connie is and always has been an absolute superstar and will have a home for life.

And can I add Monty to the 'my horses have a home for life' list too? Only had him 2 years but he is a superstar. He is ten now and unless anything unforeseen happens, he will stay with me forever.

I truly do feel blessed to have 2 fabulous horses. The least I can do is guarantee that they will be looked after forever. It is a small price to pay for the joy they bring me.

OK I guess I qualify. Yogi did his DDFT five years ago at the grand old age of nine and hasn't been riding sound since, he's now a very expensive pet who just keeps the YO horses company.

Yesterday he had to have a small sarcoid removed and completely squshed me in the stable when he saw the needle, I feel like I've been in a car crash today. But guess who was at the yard at seven this morning to give his stable a good clean out - mats up, cobwebs down and buckets scrubbed!

Any one want a 16.3hh broken gelding? ...............Anyone?...............No thought not, I guess he'll just have to stay with me and be loved!

Can't see how this can work TBH.

Who knows what is around the next corner?

Do you all have contingency plans after your death?
Are your animals sorted in your Will?
Are each and every one of them described in such Will as to what you wish should happen?
I have crossed every "T" and dotted every "I" in my will..so hopefully, mine are sorted.

But if it came up as a choice between my animals and my family.........then the animals would go...end of.

All my horses past and present have been with me all their lives. I could no more sell on a bad pony or good one. I've loved and love them all dearly and that goes for my OH and dogs. They seem to find me??

i want to join please... 3 previous horses were with me till the end, all ended as field ornaments for some time before being pts. my current one is 19 and is semi retired and will stay with me forever...have always thought of my horses as part of my family, same as the dogs and i would never sell them...:D

My share horse is sorted will wise with the owner and me. So yes, I can say this works - and not thinking so mournfully this clique is about the people who won't sell their horses and ponies on from person to person no matter what happens through thick and thin!
I'd choose my animals and my family are the same - they understand that.
And yes, yes more more more - all welcome if your neds are with you for the rest of their days!

I don't think anything can say they will be with us forever because sometime things change thats out of our hands.....mine will be with me forever unless things happen thats out of my hands, I love the dearly, they are my life.

I'm in. My wee pony was pts in april after 7 lovely years with us. He was a lucky sort in that he had only had a couple of homes in his life and was almpst always really well looked after. I say almost because the dealer i got him from wasn't the best.
My mare had a bit of a past and in turn she is pretty special needs. She is my dream horse and will be with me til the end.
