I have been idly comparing the people I know to their horses, and am amused to find that most people I know have very similar horses personality wise.

My horse is inherently lazy, quite greedy and has moments of being extremely annoying and silly but is affable and easy going - fairly similar to myself. Her next door neighbour is friendly enough but has moments of temper and lives off her nerves - very similar to her owner. The mare opposite is a hormonal old boot, has flashes of horrible temper, squeals a lot, bosses the others around and believes the yard should revolve around her whims. Nuff said.

The little cob is nice enough but nervy and has no confidence (and has mad hair and a large bottom!)

Is your horse like you?!!

My old horse was very much like me, but my new one is the complete opposite.. He is a complete drama queen and thinks everything is going to kill him. lol

hmm.. what if you have more than one? Can you choose which you are like.

1) Mouse: Total honey - beautiful, easy to get on with very friendly, everyone loves her.

2)Arwen: Bit of a fruitcake. Stroppy sometimes, bargy occasionally. Likes her own way. Total flirt. Is prone to getting a bit fat.

3)Yogi. A bit stupid. Big girl's blouse - scared of his own shadow but generally quite loveable. Will do bare minimum unless you push him.

I wOnder which one I am like....

Well....

My horse is friendly/playful...very loyal. Gets excitable. Well schooled. Bit of a show off. Looks loads younger than his years (he's 21)....so Yep...just like me

OH's mare is slightly overweight, quite often in a bad mood, temperamental and stand-offish. Sulks and is bossy. Then occasionally softens you up with a rare nuzzle and whicker....you know she loves you really. So hell yes, just like OH

grin.gif
....keep telling him they should enter the 'perfect partner' class at the local show

Oh I don't know - yes a little I think.

I would describe Tara as straight forward, easy going, nice to be around and fun.
Not above expressing her marked opinions on things she doesn't like though.
We are both slightly accident prone - often with minor cuts and scrapes!

She is much more confident than me at competitions however!

We have a lovely dainty arab at our yard and she is so well suited to her owner looks wise - ethereal and delicate.

Only one of mine IMO is like me - he's very sweet IF he gets his own way, otherwise there is stamping of feet and a lot of huffing! He's lazy IF its not what he wants to be doing. He's always too hot and likes food! Oh and he's always slightly on the "porky" side! All me!

definetly
mines blonde
smile.gif
get bored easily, love eating, generally laid back but will fight for what we believe is right, love cuddles, afternoon snoozes, very nosey lol and slightly accident prone and were the boss
smile.gif

friends horse, constantly on a diet, pretends to be grumpy, doesnt like been told what to do, loves her food, big and pretty

previous livery - nothing between the ears, rude, no social skills, very messy

I totally agree

Chance could be cute and snuggley yet stubborn. He loved all the things he shouldnt have to often like he had carrots and apples and sweed ect everyday. If he was caring and conciderate and always put on a big front so other horses wouldnt pick on him yet back down when they used to fightback (which can be like me lol) and he would fight any illness up untill the end. Some times he could be dumb but used his brains when it mattered. So like me in every way lol Bless him.

Interesting post. I had my saddle stolen and am riding in an awful ex-police horse saddle till my new one arrives. My instructor said today that it is uncanny how my horse and me are so similar in that we both like thinks to stay the same and that just has he gets upset if his routine changes or the jump poles are stacked and inch to the left, i and not happy with a different saddle.

So in answer to your question i think we evolve with our horses to become similar in personalities. We weren’t similar when i bought him he was very nervous and i am very confident (in life, not jumping) but now we just gel into a happy partnership.

Oh I hope so
smile.gif
Mine's a lithe athlete who looks devine.... However, he is prone to 'bed hair' when not plaited and can be a real obstinate little sh*t!! However, he's rather talented and quite clever, if a tad bone idle!!

BONUS!

felicity is like me!!!!

generally nice enough but can through a wobbly, will only do what i want her to if it suits her and has random days!!!!

however i dont kick my friends or actually stamp my feet in temper lol!!!!!

smile.gif

Bailey is easy going and doesn't see the point of creating a fuss about things if there's no need! He appears to be well liked and not a bully but will defend himself. He does have a stinking temper on him tho when he loses it!
He's also very capable when he puts his mind to it...
Yeah, I think he has a lot of my personality traits - good & bad, unfortunately!!!!!!!

God I hope I'm not like either of mine!
Mare is stroppy and can be difficult if she doesn't get her own way. Also hard to get to know but very affectionate once she decides she likes you (maybe I am like her?)
Gelding just wanders through life with his bits out - I'm NOT like him!

Apart from the fact that I'm not a long legged blonde lol, Dizzy is a bit of a bat; carries an argument on a bit
blush.gif
; is damn nosey; behaves, but can tell she would really rather not at times.

Hm. What can I say
blush.gif

lol, yes, my horse is like me...

Slightly stroppy, pretty face (shame about the rest of her!), talented and intelligent but without the temperament to use it, very quirky and takes some getting used to. Not the easiest to live with. Likes routine and everything has to be "just so". Shouts and cries when things don't go her way. Enjoys her freedom and has a temper if you try to make her do something she doesn't want to do.

Remind me to never buy a horse like me again....

Ronnie was gifted with beauty but no brains, whereas I was gifted with brains but no beauty, so we're not alike except in hair colour.
grin.gif

Yet more differences: I am not afraid of shadows, plastic bags, or small white ponies. I always unwrap polo mints before eating them. I do not rip my clothes to shreds when I get bored. Nor do I have suicidal tendencies.
tongue.gif

Ollie is stubborn like myself, however i know the cows wont kill me when they run over to the fence!!!
blush.gif
grin.gif

He's very nervous, whereas i am quite confident.
He is ginger with blonde mane and tail however i am blonde through and through!
tongue.gif

Sometimes he's quite clever, other times he lacks common sense
smirk.gif

I'll let you guys decide if I am like my horse...

He has an aggression problem in closed spaces. He is also a bit of a nutter when it comes to jumping, but is otherwise a likeable chap with a cuddly interior lol

grin.gif

I think Gem and I were very similar. We were both easily frustrated, and we both liked to keep ourselves to ourselves. Both pretty anti social but have a few very close friends. Not very affectionate a part from to each other, we were also both a bit neurotic lol.
I just wrote this whole post in the present tense and had to go back and change it all to past. Blah.

haha I always think horses are like their owners lol.
Rusty is a pig but always on a diet, cheeky and small, we both like to get places quick and generally cut corners if we can :P and also very stubborn and get on with everyone making friends easilly. Very much like me
Bailey is a stroppy moose at times, doesn't like being told what to do, but willing to please when she is over her spack attacks lol.
Both my nags are like me just in different ways lol

Guilty here... according to OH, I couldn't have picked a horse more like me if I tried!!!

She is sweet and cute, but can be VERY temperamental on her off days
blush.gif
. She isn't a morning person, wants to boss around OH when he's on the yard and is quite naughty. She is also well-travelled and doesn't take long to adjust to new surroundings. She is also very picky as to whom she likes, whom she tolerates, and whom she does not like at all. Just like me!!!

She even has a few dark red streaks in her black tail in the sun - just like my hair!

Plus, she likes food...
blush.gif

So, yes, she is just like me, but that's why we understand each other quite well!

Well my girlie is very stubborn and prone to throwing all her toys out the pram, she's very capable but sometimes lacks confidence in her own abilty although if she knows she can do it - no one will stand in her way. She's funny with men, she is either a full on flirt or just not interested. She likes her own space but if she wants a cuddle she'll let me know.

Ok Mavis - I think you point is proved!

My horse is a "please don't bother to fuss over me, let's just get on with the job" sort of chap. He knows what he likes and what he doesn't and can be a stubborn so and so when he makes his mind up about something. He's also bossy and likes to tell everyone else what to do.
All in all, he does sound a bit like me
blush.gif

I have things in common with both my horses but am not exactly like either of them;

My younger boy likes to be the boss (not like me at all!), he loves his food ( well some similarities there
wink.gif
) He is quite bold, like me, independent, like me, he loves exploring and going new places and is nearly always enthusiastic and eager to please (like me).

My older boy gets tense easily and hates being told off (like me!) He tries to avoid work if possible (not like me at all!) He has suicidal tendancies and overexagerattes terribly, if he looses a shoe he will instantly be unable to walk, if he cuts himself it will be life-threatening, I on the other hand am tough as old boots.
wink.gif

I really hope not as both of mine are very different but do not have personality traits that I would like to share!
Domino is food obsessed and bargy (I am not!) and Wisakedjak is neurotic, poor doer and lives on his nerves!

I prefer to think I am the "sea of calm" that sorts them both out
wink.gif

My horse is fat, lazy, slow, almost totally confident and independent... I am lazy but also constantly wound up, nervous, lacking in confidence... nah. I am more of a match to my old Welsh pony TBH!
I suspect my next horse will be much more like me though!
