Horses are contrary

Out hacking today my horse tried to avoid a puddle, but happily walked through a flooded part of the road. I guess it’s to with their perception.

She is a good mare. I went this way as it looked better than the other direction which is the ford. There’s a stream either side of the road, so it floods easily (and crosses back at the Ford). It’s then uphill.

I can imagine the mulish head on the beast if I made him go through that. He doesn't like getting his hooves wet it's ridiculous as we used to event quite regularly.

Mine dithers crossing the puddle on the yard driveway under saddle, but happily plods through it being led to and from the fields.

Edit: Oh, and she'd be absolutely fine going through that flood, other than wanting to stop and have a roll!

Good grief. I would be napping going into that lot, let alone the horse!
