Horses are great levelers!!!!!

Sat here with my brused knee/ face and mostly pride! Luckily laughing at what great levelers horses are.

Had the saddler out tonight, big horse has been back in work 7/8 weeks, after 8 months off, mostly hacking - in the school thought (or didn't really to be honest!) I'd show her and a friend who was here also, a bit of what he can do - asked for much too much so he dropped me on the floor! NO MUM we're not ready for that yet - don't be stupid!!

He is good at putting me in my place - I'm soooo embarised.

Anyone else recently had their stupidity shown up by their horse?

Please tell me I'm not the only idiot out there this evening
 
Excuse me? He dropped you on the floor why, exactly? If I ask my horse to do something then I expect him to do it, or at the very least to try to do so. I can't think of ANY reason that would excuse a horse deliberately attempting to deposit its rider.
 
He's not fit/ muscled enough for what I aske of him and I know (should have) that. He said 'that's too much' by rearing and as I've only been back riding 2 months after a C section 3 months ago I hit the deck.

I think he's within his rights to say no when I'm being unreasonable

my 3 yr old reacts in the same way when he doesn't like or doesn't understand what you are asking! I've not ridden him yet but I had an instructor out this week to try and help me get him long lining, he wasn't sure what she was asking of him, she was far to rough, he tried to rear, that didn't work, so he got down on the floor on his front legs!!! so think ill be looking for alternative help now!!

Mine did a few weeks ago. We'd been for a hack and were walking back down the lane on a long rein when I let him stop to rub his head on his leg. Next thing, he's rubbed his bridle off and nipping over to snack on the neighbour's herbaceous border :o

Haha! Sounds like something my boy would do!
 
I shall comfort myself by tracking down that clip of Mary King at the second to last fence last at badminton one year- she was miles in the lead with her dressage score - clear and inside the time - relatively simple log - she was starting to smile in an 'I've won this' way - and bang - she hits the deck - she took it with so much grace.

Hope I can do the same when saddler comes back
 
Hope you are ok. My son hasnt fallen off in years, new horse decided he didnt want to go on that rein and tried to duck round, son gave him a flick with the stick, huge buck and catapulted son into wall of the school which he slid down and sat there. One very confused horse stood looking at him and a very surprised instructor . We did all chuckle as no real harm done but they both needed to reassess things. Horse hast done anything like it since, I think he was as shocked as my son . New understanding now reached :)
