I was talking to a friend today about horses when they get sold and the funny (embarrasing and infuriating things they do)
I once sold a cob who was an absolute angel to load, never had a problem with her, we boxed her to all the local shows, to local hunts, from cornwall to dorset and back etc. The day we sold her she looked at the box and questioned whether it was a 'good idea' to go in there, then went in a few mins later, she then proceeded (from what I heard) to refuse to load for her new owner, it took them quite a while to sort this out!
My friend brought 2 horses off owners that she knew to be lovely owners wo cared for their horses and treated them well. One she later found out was a notorious biter who tried to take chunks out of everyone when they came near him, she only found this out months down the line when she started to show him and people started asking her how she had stopped him doing it, she had never had one incident with him! She also purchased a horse knowing he had always been a sod to catch, yet she never had a days problem!
Why do horses try to make us look like prats? We love them, care for them, find them nice future homes and then they turn around, flip us the finger and behave completely differently with their new owners! They either make previous owners look like fools or liars or both!!!
