I remember seeing a thread on here the other day about 2 horses being slashed in Cambs.(1 in Doddington can't remember where the other was) Anyway as I recall the police apparently denied the reports when a HHO called them. I was shocked to hear from my Farrier this morning that he has heard from the police that the reports are in fact TRUE! Apparently the horse in Doddington died as a result. I'm gonna do my own research online to see if I can find anything else out but I thought I'd let everyone on here local to the area know so that they be on the alert. There are some very scary & sick people around!

It was me that posted on Sunday regarding a suspected knife attack on the pony near Coates as I am friends with that owner and had spoken to her.

There was another alleged incident I believe in Wimblington, March area but although I have the 'rumour' details, I do not have the full facts of that incident.

My friends pony is thankfully starting to recover slowly.

Like any time of year, probably will pay for others in the area to do extra checks on their own horses.

Horsewatch email received yesterday:

The following is an incident that happened recently in Cambridgeshire - I have also heard rumours about a horse being attached in Wimblington over the last few days.
I can not find any reports of this on our Police system so unless anyone knows any differently I can only assume it did not happen and would encourage you not to panic.
Attacks on horses in Cambridgeshire are rare but please do report any suspicious activity to Cambridgeshire Police on 0345 4564564.

CC-30072010-0613
Overnight 29/07/10
Whittlesey, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire
A horse at the location sustained an injury to his throat. This was a cut approx 1.5" long, clean and straight that required stitching by a vet.
It is unknown how this injury happened and whether it was accidental or deliberate by persons unknown.

My horses are in Wimblington, I know a lot of the horsey people in Wimblington and Doddington and everyone has heard the rumours but no-one knows of a horse which was injured or killed. Having had a horse deliberately injured in the past if I thought the rumours regarding a horse being killed nearby were true they would be having a holiday 70 miles away with my father in Lincolnshire! Of course it doesn't hurt to be extra vigalent and we are all being extra careful to watch out for each others horses.

I live in Wimblington and do not know personally of any horses attacked however a friend who works in the police control room has informed me that there were attacks on three horses between whittlesey and March. 2 were treated by the vet and the third one died.
Seems there are lots of conflicting stories which is very worrying in itself.
