Why do they do it?

Ellie managed to wreck my nicest pair of plaited reins one day when we were stood at the ringside; we thought she'd gone to sleep, but she actually had the rein in her mouth and was chomping away! This morning I put my saddle over the gate while I mucked out, only to look out a minute later and see her having a good olfd chew on the girth! She wouldnt touch the saddle though; synthetic leather is clearly inferior to the Real Thing

mizelz i had the same problem but i found using bitter bite helps u get from pet shops its used to stop puppys eating stuff and animals eating banages doesnt seam to affect the leather hope this helps!

My haffie chews everything all the time....she has a synthetic saddle but after she chewed through 3 Happy mouth bits in as many weeks she now has sweet iron and after 3 bridles I have resorted to a lovely purple and black webbing number which I thought would be horrid but is actually fantastic!

Beau used to chew her reins whenever you left her alone... although i thought she would have got over it by now... but no i left her in her stable for like 1 min and had undone her flash... came back and said flash was in 2 pieces... little madame.

Although its not really just leather for her. She likes to chew ropes and generally anything she can get to. Its just the leather that anoys me so much!
