Just read this on H & H news pages. Sad as this is at last someone is getting a grip on the horrific situation of unwanted horses.

I fully agree and its something that should be considered in this country too due to the high level of abandoned and neglect horses at least this way they cant come to any more harm

At least they're not being collected then left to rot up a mountain until there's enough for a lorry load to take to the slaughterhouse.

Better a bullet than needless suffering, such a shame and I'll bet a waste of gorgeous horses but needs must in this climate, wish this happened here but with many people saving from the meat man then trying to sell on our markets are unfortunately glutted.

Completely agree. It's also the only deterrent to fly grazing, to PTS any horse which is not chipped and is illegally being grazed without permission, and not to pay compensation because the horse wasn't chipped. Hitting the beastly low lifes in their pocket is the only thing that will influence their behaviour as they certainly don't care about the horses in many cases.

Can't happen fast enough here in my mind. Not cos I want the horses PTS but because it will prevent them suffering and also prevent many thousands more going through the same ideal,.

It particularly concerns me on places like Exmoor where the pure bred ancient breed is being put at risk by uncut manky coloured ponies being dumped on the moor and breeding with them :-(((((, to me anyone doing that should be sent straight to jail.

Absolutely this.....I see one council in particular is starting to do this. 7 days to prove the horse is yours by providing passport and proof of ownership. For the vast majority there are no passports of proof of ownership and they are being PTS.

Why didn't they put a like button on here when they upgraded? Good on that council, wish it was law, again like LM, not because I want tp PTS everything but it's the only way to give them a secure end rather than the life of misery they will endure if not.

People really need to stop breeding indiscriminate low quality animals that have no future and very little value. Not sure how you stop that though...
