i have noticed over the last month my 4 yr old has started to get a cloudyness in one corner of his eye - anyone know what it might be - he is still responsive in both eyes when done tests
I'd get the vet to take a look, could be a number of things, some very serious like moon blindness, the sooner its looked at the sooner it can be treated and it will put your mind at rest.
Yes get the vet straight away (do not panick though). Could be anything. Had this with my horse, alot worse than yours. no other signs of moon blindness or pain etc & pupil worked perfectly ok. After treatment the eye has improved 95% but just cant clear the cloud completley. I still think my horse knocked his eye as he is very playfull, always has bites all around his face, neck etc, think one of them caught his eye. Good luck with your horse.
Not trying to worry you but my friends horse banged his eye in the field and it looked like that, got progressivly worse so she got the vet. He came and told her that her horse was blind in that eye.
But he had successfully completed 2 3 day events with only sight in one eye so its not the end of the world if your horse does have something simular.
Your vet will give you a proper diagnosis and you should call to make an appointment. Leaving any eye problem untreated is asking for trouble. Eye ulcers are often a reason for cloudiness in eyes and can be cleared up quickly with ointment which you squeeze onto your finger and put in the eye as per instructions. I wouldnt delay in calling the vet.
