horses feet-what do you think of THESE things?!

personally i think she has very serious issues and needs 6 months of monthly trimming to getthem sorted out.

I think you'd be surprised how quickly they're back to "normal" a few trims and I think they'd be ok. Providing theres no internl distortion

they do look pretty bad especially with the shoes on but i agree that once they are off they will need a good trim and then they will look alot better. i still don't understand how anyone could let them get like that though!

goodness! he/she needs a good farrier!
the horse may benefit from being barefoot for a while, to give the hoof time to recover.

thats what im worried about. the flare/splay will be trimmed off fairly easily
but bringing her heels back is going to be a task.they are grown right under, so the central point of her foot(or rather where it should be) is amost more like the start of her heels

Those are absolutely shocking feet. The owner should be shot for letting his or her horse get into that state in the first place. The mind boggles...

Oh dear. I suppose the screamingly obvious is that they flattened and spread. I think that the splitting should be sorted with trimming but that they'll definitely need plenty of work over a few months. Poor sweetie. The owner should have carpet tacks thrown in their shoes and then be made to do a charitable marathon for abused equines

My concern would be navicular! the heels are very low and a seriously long toe which automatically give the navicular bone a serious disadvantage also the huge wide frogs can too be a giveaway for navicular, X-rays is all I can say!!

Sadly, I've seen worse but it makes me very cross that people allow their horse's feet to get that way!!

shes got a farrier coming to see her asap.just want her lots more comfy.think it stems from an injury gained as a baby, but will liase closely with the farrier to see if 4 weekly visits will help get them back in shape

shes been seen and looks totally different.am so relieved as was unable to sleep as i was worrying about her!lol.
he says shes the type of horse whos feet will get splayed and spread really quickly so shes getting done again in 4-5weeks time and shes booked in for a specific day which is ace!
just cant believe the difference with just one re trim and shoeing.i was getting all wound up thinking id harmed her legs by working her while her feet were looking so out of shape, but i am a worrier.
